Paul Laine’s experience in the music industry is both noteworthy and extensive. At age 20, Paul secured a worldwide recording contract with Elektra Records and a management deal with Bruce Allen Talent (Michael Buble’, Bryan Adams, Martina McBride, Loverboy). Teaming up with mega-producer Bruce Fairbairn (Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, KISS, AC/DC, INXS), Paul enjoyed several worldwide hits including “Dorianna” and “Is It Love”, hitting the charts throughout North America, Europe, and Japan.
Paul had the privilege of touring with acts such as Bryan Adams, Joe Satriani, Joan Jett, Richard Marx, as well as other successful recording artists. During this time, Paul was involved in singing and arranging background vocals for many of the other Bruce Fairbairn projects, including multi-platinum albums by Poison, (Flesh & Blood) and The Scorpions, (Face the Heat). In 1993, Paul moved to New York City where he joined Sony Music’s multi-platinum recording artists Danger Danger. Over the next decade, Paul recorded five albums with Danger Danger and toured the world extensively.
Recently, Paul worked on the latest Boys Like Girls album including the hit “Love Drunk” as well as albums with Hinder (Take it To The Limit) and Faber Drive (Can’t Keep a Secret). Shifting gears in 2011, Paul formed a new band, DarkHorse, and began writing and recording their debut album. Joining Paul and the band in the recording of the debut album, “Let It Ride”, were musicians from Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, and Rascal Flatts. In early 2015, Paul was offered a record deal with Frontiers Records to write,record and produce a new Rock album under the moniker “The Defiants”. Released in April 2016, during a tour in Italy,the album immediately rocketed up the charts in its first two weeks.landing Paul and the band back on Billboard’s top 50 .(#41 on Billboard Heatseekers chart) This November (2016) saw Paul and The Defiants take home Classic Rock Magazine’s “AOR Album of the Year”. Paul continues to work all over the world as a producer, writer, and arranger for many of today’s industry heavyweights.
